At the July Haiti Outreach Mission (HOM) Executive Council meeting, the 7/1/23 – 6/30/24 fiscal year financial reports showed:

  • An increase in cash position by $11,186
  • $3,500 of humanitarian assistance sent in April, May & June to each parish, primarily for refugees fleeing gang violence from outside of Mirebalais
    • $1,750 for food
    • $1,050 for shelter
    • $700 for school tuition
  • $5,000 additional school aid sent to each parish this spring to help cover payroll
  • A 10% raise for medical clinic personnel (first increase in 3 years) starting in June
  • $12,000 contributed for adding solar power to the medical clinic and dental office

This last was particularly gratifying as it has enabled to clinic to install the new solar system, which will greatly reduce the wear on the generator as well as expenditures for (extremely expensive) fuel to run it.

In addition, Fr. Romel reports that travel conditions from Port-au-Prince have improved sufficiently that staff from Culligan have been able to repair and restart the water purification system, although there are significant costs owing to it being out of service for an extended period of time.
